Los miles de colores y pinceladas que imprime un pintor en una tela, las habilidosas mentes y manos que modelan una escultura y el ojo inquisitivo que crea una escena o busca el paisaje indicado para encuadrar una fotografía; los conceptos detrás de las imágenes en movimiento de un video, la energía que se requiere al presentar una performance y la audacia para intervenir espacios públicos; aquellos que han continuado con el legado de grandes maestros y los que se han atrevido a ir más allá, han explorado y propuesto nuevos lenguajes de expresión en un contexto multimedial, ampliando los límites de lo que se considera arte. Sin importar la procedencia, la edad, los años de trayectoria o los medios que utilizan para enunciar lo que la imaginación les dicta, estos han sido los protagonistas de las páginas que hemos entregado a nuestros lectores en estas cincuenta ediciones.

Para esta edición aniversario quisimos hacer un homenaje a todos quienes depositaron su confianza en Arte Al Límite en números anteriores, e invitamos a una selección de cincuenta connotados artistas, quienes nuevamente nos acogen en sus mundos creativos.

Forma y contenido tienen un vínculo íntimo en las instalaciones de Grimanesa Amorós. Abundan las esculturas esféricas, que simbolizan las aguas de su tierra natal, lo cíclico o el vientre materno. Ella usa luces, videos y otros recursos para hablar de temas como las culturas andinas, la concepción de un hijo o la identidad. Viene de Perú, vive en Nueva York e investiga en miles de rincones del globo, lo que le da a su obra un tinte a la vez local y universal.
Nacida en Perú en 1962, Grimanesa Amorós comenzó su carrera artística a los 11 años, al matricularse en un taller de pintura. Su traslado a Nueva York fue un progreso clave en su carrera, donde estudió en el Art Students League gracias a una beca. Sus trabajos han sido presentados en importantes espacios públicos como Times Square, en un proyecto en colaboración con The Armory Show. También ha mostrado su obra en galerías y museos de varios países, incluyendo la 54ª Bienal de Venecia y Artco Gallery en Lima, Perú. Instituciones como el National Endowment of the Arts o el Bronx Museum le han otorgado becas y membresías para contribuir en su crecimiento como artista.

No matter where they come from, their age, how many years of trajectory or the means they use to enunciate what their imagination dictates, those have been the main characters of the pages we have given to our readers in these fifty editions.

For this Golden Edition, we wanted to honor those who trusted in Arte Al Límite in previous editions, and we invited a selection of fifty outstanding artists who once again take us to their creative worlds.
Biographies
Shape and content have an intimate bond in Grimanesa Amorós’ installations. Her work is rich in spherical sculptures that symbolize her native land’s waters, cycles, or women’s womb. She comes from Peru, lives in New York, and investigates in many places around the world, and that gives her work a local and universal touch at the same time.
